Best email marketing software for Canadian small businesses

A Canadian email tool has two jobs US roundups skip: show you CAD or an honest USD label, and keep GST/HST on the SaaS bill separate from GST/HST on the invoices you send. It is not a till. It is not Interac. It is not your ledger.

This comparison is five options Canadians actually open: Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Constant Contact, Flodesk, and MailerLite. Email-marketing prices checked against public vendor pages, 6 September 2026. Buttons are official marketing URLs, not affiliate trackers.

I have not sent a Smithville list through each stack for NorthOffice. Fit is inferred from public pricing and tax pages — including Interac and Canadian data centres the vendor does not name.

Who each tool is actually for

• Mailchimp — the default newsletter brand. USD list (CAD toggle on the pricing page). GST/HST documented in Mailchimp help. Not your invoice mailer.
• Klaviyo — Shopify-weighted email and SMS. USD calculator. GST/HST on Canadian invoices from 20 June 2024. Related: website builders if the storefront is Shopify.
• Constant Contact — the one public CAD list in this set. US company; Canadian marketing pages. Confirm the live widget (Cloudflare blocked a direct retrieve on the check date).
• Flodesk — design-first, subscriber-tiered USD. Checkout in Canada goes through Stripe — not Interac.
• MailerLite — Comfort/Power after the 2026 rename. USD or EUR. Starting prices are low; that is not a Canadian DC.

Mailchimp help (About Canada Taxes): advertised prices exclude tax. Mailchimp collects GST plus provincial HST/PST/QST from a Canadian location. GST-registered businesses can add a GST ID to self-assess federal GST; Ontario HST follows that rule. BC and Saskatchewan PST is charged even if federal GST is self-assessed. Flodesk — USD, subscriber tiers, Stripe checkout in Canada

Lite at up to 1,000 subscribers: US$25/month, or US$19/month with annual billing. Pro at up to 1,000 subscribers: US$28/month, or US$25/month annual. Everything at up to 1,000 subscribers: US$54/month, or US$49/month annual. Free plan: forms, landing pages, and link-in-bio. The FAQ says it does not include email sending. Original flat-rate unlimited plan was retired for new members on 2 December 2025. New accounts are subscriber-tiered. USD worldwide. Flodesk Checkout (Pro/Everything) is available to businesses based in Canada. Payment processing is Stripe’s rate; Flodesk says it adds no platform transaction fee. That is Stripe, not a published Interac table. Card acceptance and Interac at a counter are still a payment-processor or POS decision.

MailerLite — Comfort/Power, USD or EUR

MailerLite help (paid-plans update, 2026): Growing Business is now Comfort; Advanced is now Power. Paid accounts move at renewal from 13 August 2026. Free: US$0, up to 250 subscribers, 2,500 emails/month. Comfort starts at US$12/month on the public pricing FAQ. Power starts at US$25/month on the same FAQ. 1. Want a published CAD marketing price and a small list: Constant Contact Lite, then confirm the live CA$ widget.
2. Already on Shopify and willing to pay USD plus GST/HST: Klaviyo’s free tier first; paid email only after you read the calculator.
3. Want the familiar brand and documented Canadian tax help: Mailchimp Essentials or Standard at the 0–500 tier, USD (or the CAD toggle at checkout).
4. Design-first newsletters, USD, Canada-eligible Stripe checkout: Flodesk Lite or Pro at your subscriber tier.
5. Lowest official starting USD price in this set: MailerLite Comfort. Still not a Canadian data centre.
